The iPhone 6 is expected to come in two different models, one with a 4.7-inch display and one with a 5.5-inch display. The larger model will be more expensive, and they both may come with a new mode that tailors the interface for use with a single hand, allowing for better control over the larger device.

As for Apple's smartwatch, the Times corroborates earlier reports saying that it'll come in two sizes and have a variety of health functions. It also reports that the watch will have a flexible display that's covered by sapphire. Sensors on the watch will be capable of tracking a wearer's footsteps and heart rate, among other vital signs.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier today that the iWatch was expected to come with NFC — a type of close-range, wireless communications system — and the Times is reporting that here too. It says that Apple's wearable and its new iPhones will all include NFC support, which will be used for making mobile payments through a partnership with Visa, American Express, and MasterCard.

Anyone care to take a guess how one handed mode might work?

May be the deciding factor between me getting the smaller or larger screen.

Not sure that I really need such a large screen when I have an iPad.

One thing I loved about my BlackBerry was you could operate it with one hand.

I'm guessing it'll be similar to the way one handed mode is implemented on the Note 3. Basically certain apps and screens are reduced and shifted to one size. I dont usually use it but have big hands and can reach the end of the screen with my thumb one handed already. Nice feature though if you don't have large hands I guess

Eta: here are some screens I took for you

Regular:

One Handed mode:

The arrow switches which side of the screen the reduced window affixes to.

Here is the explanation in the settings:
