In case any of you wanted to see it up close. IIRC he shot someone with it while in Mexico. Later it was on his hip during WWII (along with an ivory stocked Smith and Wesson). Perhaps the most famous Colt SAA in existence.

These aren't pearl handles, they're ivory. Only a cheap pimp in a New Orleans whore house would have pearl handles.

Patton

Read his book, War as I Knew It, its a great read. My favorite WWII military commander. Rommel is a close second. Surprisingly, Patton studied the crap out of rommels writtings, the Rommel book "attacks" for example. Talk about a man who was prepared and not afraid to call it like he saw it. Dam man was right about the Russians too....

Patton Museum near Fort Knox I believe.

ETA: I can tell by the first pic of Patton above that he has the SAA hammer in the safety notch position. Hopefully he wasn't carrying the gun with a round under the hammer.

"I understand the situation. Their (the Soviet) supply system is inadequate to maintain them in a serious action such as I could put to them. They have chickens in the coop and cattle on the hoof -- that's their supply system. They could probably maintain themselves in the type of fighting I could give them for five days. After that it would make no difference how many million men they have, and if you wanted Moscow I could give it to you. They lived on the land coming down. There is insufficient left for them to maintain themselves going back. Let's not give them time to build up their supplies. If we do, then . . . we have had a victory over the Germans and disarmed them, but we have failed in the liberation of Europe; we have lost the war!" e

Patton

The man knew what we were facing with communism and despite revisionist commie history, he knew that Russia was weak. Should have let him loose, reconstituted the German army, and let Patton burnMoscow.

45 colt, if you have a nice strong pistol you can load some hot sauce in that caliber. Make 44 mag look weak.

I'm talking 300gr bullets moving at 1400fps or more.

The Model 1873 Colt Single-Action Army Revolver
This is Patton’s Peacemaker that was at his side in war. The General ordered it from Colt with the engraved Ivory Grips and silver plating. Colt’s records confirm the purchase. Later the General had the single action full-coverage engraved and re-plated. The engraver is not known.

Patton bought the Colt while serving as a Lieutenant in the Mexican Wars. He recorded two kills of Pancho Villa’s bandits with two notches filed into the left side grip

True, but that will destroy every Colt, clone, and Ruger New Vaquero it is fired in. The cylinder is almost paper thin below the notches.

Hot loads need to be in Ruger Blackhawks (full size), Freedom Arms, or TC Contenders.

You probably know this but others might not.

Well, it's still a virgin and probably will be when I die/sell it so I'll not be hot loading it. TIA

Yes, I did mention strong. Freedom arms are very nice.

I don't currently load 45 colt, but have been toying with doing so for a while. Of course that came after I fingered a freedom arms revolver a month ago. Conceal carry a 45 colt, 300 gr of anti aircraft fire was my thought.

More fun facts:

quote:

Patton was issued a .380 Colt Pocket Hammerless, and a friend presented him with a Remington Model 51 in .380 also. Neither had pearl grips. General Patton was issued a Colt Pocket Hammerless .380, serial number 135170, and General Eisenhower was issued serial number 135171.

He also carried a S&W .357.
