LSU smoking ban - not working.
WTF, huh? You basically tell people you aren't going to enforce it - and bam - they don't care! Who would have thought?
This is ridiculous. Enforce the ban or get rid of it.
Those smokers who are following the rules are getting pissed off they have to smell the crap but still can't smoke it!

Nope. LSU PD says they don't have the manpower to enforce it in its first year. Besides as I understand it - its not even really a law, its a "policy" which means at worst they can boot you off campus unless you're a student or employee then they can take other disciplinary action;.
So for now its merely a "policy" -a workplace policy for me - a school policy for the kids - and everyone else can basically do as they please. Except none of the kids are following it. Its almost as if nothing happened.
If I were in charge I would pick a compromise policy - smoking is banned everyone on campus but the tops of buildings during normal working hours and normal weekends - and in designated smoking pens for gamedays and other big events.
So for now its merely a "policy" -a workplace policy for me - a school policy for the kids - and everyone else can basically do as they please. Except none of the kids are following it. Its almost as if nothing happened.

I don't even think they enforced the "20ft from building" rule before this one. Plus, the quad is a big open area. Don't want to breathe in someone's cigarette smoke? Walk around them. It's not that difficult.

Too bad EA is enforcing the ban on their employees. You could have gone to the first floor of the DMC and gotten all the hyperbole you wanted before Aug 1.

How long does it take to walk past a smoker? A couple of seconds, maybe? You want to completely ban smoking from campus because you don't like walking by them?
