When the running game is not working before wasting 3 quarters? They seem to have the players for. Hand off right through the middle more than 50 percent of the time is so 70s. Also teams who use the spread have the most success vs SEC defenses.

Sadly, this is true. Changing it up with the I formation every once in awhile would be a good thing.

Jennings seemed to play better when we started spreading it out more, which opened the run.

We definitely have the personnel to go 3-wide a lot more often than we do.

I expect to see a lot more 3 receiver sets to loosen the box. They had to do it against Whisky so just maybe to lightbulb goes off.

I thought we did well when we were running out of the shotgun. We had offset backs and that opened holes up and we ran through the middle. Hopefully this becomes a regular thing.

They might if the TEs don't block or catch better.

3 wide and an Oregon-style inside/outside zone read would be absolutely phenomenal with Jennings at QB

I was saying the same exact thing the other night. I love the spread offenses and up tempo offenses. We did nothing but run the ball for nothing 1st and 2nd down.

We can run the ball, with power, out of a 3 wide shotgun set. We can also spread the defense out from the i too, with motion. That's more than likely what we'll do tbh.

It can.. but it conflicts with Miles philosophy of big-boy football. I think in this era of football.. you have to utilize your strengths.. for example.. if the I Formation works on some teams.. use it. However, if I Formations don't work on teams like Alabama.. then you have to compromise and go with the spread. You can still run out of the spread. shite even Bama runs the pistol and spread. If CLM loves fullbacks, he can utilize TEs as H backs and motion them to the FB position.

You can still stick to the "big-boy football" philosophy why utilizing some spread concepts and be very successful.

See the Redskins' offense during Griffin's rookie year. They spread it out/ran zone-read (which clearly we can do) and still kept the power run game as the base of the offense.

power running is all about pulling guards and utilizing lead blockers anyways. all of which can be done from 3 wide/shotgun sets.

I'll be honest, we had a huge matchup advantage over wisconsin between our WRs and their secondary. I wouldn't mind seeing how well we pass against a team that isn't selling all out to stop the run before we completely abandon out prostyle of play.

Every team is going to do that until we prove that we can throw the ball. And throw on running downs

don't need to go to the spread but could just do what we did in the second half with 3 receiver sets and no fullback. The threat of a passing game opens up the running game.

pro style play??? That's what we switched to in the second half. Not many pro teams line up in the power I any more as their base offense.

wrong. We need to work on perfecting the type of offense that works against the better teams that we don't have a huge physical advantage over, which is pretty much every team we play other than the Sam Houstons and New Mexico St type teams. Sam Houston State is the perfect game to work on 3 WR sets and both the running and passing game out of it. We would never beat a team like Alabama or Auburn or Florida or Ole Miss or Arkansas out of the power I and trying to run straight at them and waiting until 3rd and 8 to pass the ball. Run Run Pass punt is not going to win many games against the better teams
