First off... We missed Bain last night. He was my breakout player of the year this season and we really missed him. That said...

Was really impressed with Godchaux. I thought he would turn into a monster for us at some point during his career... But I didn't expect him to play like he did tonight.

Don't get me wrong... He made mistakes and missed some tackles tackles tonight... But was extremely disruptive out there and consistently flashed on the screen.

He held his own against a very good, well coached, and disciplined OL from Wisky and showed the type of talent he has.

He's not near a finished product, but I loved what I saw from him tonight and the future is really bright for him. Also love his build. He was a DE in high school, but got up to 290lbs but it's an extremely lean 290lbs. When it's all said and done, Godchaux is gonna be a stud for us.

He'll be a beast. I was surprised to see him play as much as he did last night.

Godchaux and Adams played a good bit on defense and did well. Adams did get knocked hard by Gordon when he blitzed (but did enough to cause McEvoy to panick and throw a bad ball)

I thought Godchaux's increased playing time in the second half was a difference maker.

I was impressed with him. A few times I was yelling at the refs when he was overtly getting held.

I heard them say last night that the coaching staff thinks he's the next Dorsey. Is this new or have they been openly praising him?

He played very well, impressive for his first start against a legitimate opponent. Bower did pretty good in his time on the field as well. Honestly, I think our D Line has some potential, more upside than some realize IMHO.

Once our O gels...

Well... they havent said anything negative about him.

I loved him as a recruit.. he was a 6'4 260lbs DE in high school. Tore his ACL early on in his senior season and some people on the recruiting board thought we should have pulled his scholly for some reason... no idea why because that never crossed my mind. I thought he was a top 50 player in the nation.

His surgery and rehab went well, and he stood by his LSU commitment and we honored his scholarship, despite him taking visits to other schools. I have no problem with that, some do. Didnt bother me because he was always all LSU.

Then, he gets his weight up to 298lbs. And thats what Im so impressed with. Typically when you have a DT fresh out of high school, he has some baby fat and bad weight on him like Bain did last season. And they typically spend that 1st year redshirted and in the weight room turning it into muscle.

Well, Godchaux didnt have that problem. Hes 298lbs of muscle and looks like an ox out there. And is just a true freshman and coming off an ACL tear. He already has the look of an NFL DL. And hes very explosive and athletic. Hes like a DE in a DT body. Gonna be a great 1 for us.
