RR and Malachi missing this game don't concern me very much. However, Bain missing this game seems to me to be a huge loss. In my opinion, our interior run defense was one of the biggest question marks on this team even before the Thomas injury. Now, with Bain out, we're missing 2 of our top 4 DTs. Not only that, we're going against one of the best offensive lines in the country with a one of the best interior power running attacks in the country.

What are y'alls thoughts on this? Do we have the depth/talent in the front 7 to contain this powerful running attack?

It sucks, but LSU will prevail. It's time to trust in the coaches, the players, the magic.

Take my hand. I'll guide you through it.

Oh, and in case you forgot,

We'll be fine. Too many offensive weapons. It might be close until the third but LSU pulls away. Might be ugly though- like the Boise and ole piss game.

Gordon is the best RB LSU will face all year, so yes.

He wasn't going to be the difference between a win or loss.

Go ahead, be concerned. Waste of freaking time if you ask me. Season opener is a time for optimism, there will be plenty of time later on to be concerned about stuff.

Game plan: Ball control (Run 65% Pass 35%) No turnovers. Win field position battle. Keep Wisconsin Offense (Gordon) on the sidelines.

If LSU doesn't do this, Bain will be least of our concerns.

I agree with that. Strictly because of who we are playing and how they play. Bain is gonna see a lot of PT this year and could be our most talented DT, along with Loc. He's primed for a breakout year.

Since he's out, we have QT, Loc, and Herron. And we are gonna be rotating our DTs in and out a lot. So who do we rotate in? I know Les mentioned Godchaux, and I love Godchaux. He was 1 of my favorite recruits in this loaded class. But Wiskys OL is as fundamentally sound and disciplined as you can get. Godchaux is a true freshman coming off an ACL tear. I have no doubt he can be a big time player for us at some point, but game 1 vs Wisky OL? Not sure about that. I'll be pumped if he can step up for us, because he's got a lot of talent and ability. But he's never played in a college game get and this is against a really good OL.

Gilmore is still a ways away from being a consistent player in our rotation. And Mickey Johnson might never break through.

Still think we win... But this does make me a bit uneasy.

Because that kind of concern can serve no constructive purpose whatsoever. Just look forward to watching a team you love play football. It's been a long wait between the end of last season and tomorrow.

You lose an interior starter and you should be concerned, always! The rest of these sunshine pumpers are just making it sound ok so they can sleep.

What all this does is distract kids. We are not as good of a team if we lose starters, period. Saying anything else makes no sense.

As we know, it's all our tackles fault when Welter makes plays 10 yds downfield, and now we lose a DT who is supposed to be responsible for our subpar mlb not getting touched.
