Posted in the Nintendo thread. Really sucks for anyone who bought a 3DS recently. This isn't a new model, but a completely new piece of hardware. 
Not to mention the incredible amount of confusion this will cause at retailers.

The new 3DS looks great...but Nintendo just doesn't seem to get it. This is the same type of marketing confusion that afflicted the Wii U.
How many current 3DS owners are going to attempt to purchase Xenoblade Chronicles next year for their 3DS, only to realize that it doesn't work with their specific version of the 3DS?

Internet on new 3ds has a filter, pay to have it removed

I'm really dumbfounded by this. I did get a 3DS within the last year to play "A Link Between Worlds" and this has me pretty bummed out about my purchase.
It feels like a move out of Sega's play book from the mid-90's.
