Watched a stud athlete tonight as 2A powerhouse Baldwyn, Ms. Beat 3A contender Booneville, Ms. 41-12. Duke Upshaw, a 6'1" 190lb, was 7/10 passing for 121 yords; 14 carries for 238 yards and 3 tds. Upshaw also had a 98 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Last week he also had gaudy stats including a 81 yard interception return for a TD.

Both Ole Miss and Miss State are heavily recruiting him. I was wondering if LSU was giving him a look. He was impressive. Projects as RB or DB. He is a shut down corner. Haven't seen him on any of our lists.

Nice! Thanks for the info on a solid MS player. Maybe he will get some attention from LSU soon. I live near bassfield so I know a little about Baldwyn cause they almost made it to the state title game last year.

Baldwyn and Bassfield shouid be the state championship game in 2A. Upshaw is the best i've seen so far. Going to watch Starkville and Oxford tonight. Oxford has a qb and a wr both in the rivals 100.

Yeah I'm hoping someone can give bassfield a good game in the state title game. Yeah I believe that wr is an ole miss commit right?

I am born and raised in La., but had to move to Tupelo,Ms. I'll go see Upshaw and check him out. I often do that. I have recruited Ms. for LSU for 20 years, including a certain QB from Tupelo that didn't make it. His dad sold hospital supplies to the hospital to my wife. He got an earful about LSU for a year, back then. I just informed LSU 2 weeks ago about the D Tackle in the Dirty Dozen from the Hattiesburg area that likes LSU, according to the Clarion-Ledger Sunday newspaper. There is a QB at Oxford. His coach, Hill, coached my son at Tupelo 12 years ago. He is all OM. Hates LSU. My son, a tight end, and a tackle were recruited by Dinardo back then. Miles doesn't really spend time on North Ms.. We'll see.

I am also from Baton Rouge, live in Saltillo and my wife is a critical care nurse at the hospital. We may very well have met. I just found out that upshaw went to the Army All American camp as a freshman and sophmore. He may not be flying under the radar after all.

I'd like to talk LSU with you. E-mail me at pdginn@bellsouth.net and we'll get phone numbers. My wife is an RN at NMMC, but is in surgery. In fact she's a Co-ordinator . She was with me in B.R. in the 80's and we had to move to Tupelo in '91. I suspect I'm a lot older, but to find an LSU fan in Ms. is great. Everybody's OM or State and too many BAMA. Let me hear from you.

Sweet man! I knew Jamal Peters wasn't going to commit to LSU at first like everyone on here thought after his visit for the auburn game last year. He's always liked state and his friends from other schools are going to state so that's why he committed. His recruitment is FAR from over. Promise you that. I believe he will open up his recruitment before December. His mom is very big on LSU and loves coach miles. Take it for what it's worth haha. Wasn't that Garrett kid (QB) from Tupelo?

Yes, Chris Garrett was from Tupelo. I also liked Chad Bumpis from that team. He went Miss St. I saw them play South Panola. I really liked a freshman for SP named Issac Gross, who ended up at Ole Miss. Hope we get peters.

Yeah I know all of those names. Bumphis was good but he didn't have as good as a career as I thought he would. Gross is a solid DT for OM. I was hoping we could get Speaks from Callaway (DT) from ole miss but he stuck with his commitment with them.

TupeloTiger,
Sent you an email with my information. Saw qb Jack Abraham and WR DK Metcalf Friday. They were good but over rated in my opinion. Metcalf has great size but could not get open against double teams. He takes plays off and doesn't block well. Abraham has a good arm but takes too many chances. As he matures, he will grow out of that habit.

Starkville was a much better team. RB Jaquez Horsley will be a D1 prospect. WR Raphael Leonard caught 4 long touchdowns with about 270 yards receiving. QB Brady Davis, a Memphis commit, threw for 540 yards. Team speed was the difference in the game. Starkville 52 Oxford 29
