My insurance policy is up next month and I shopped around and found that Safeco was about 25% lower than progressive (whom I've been with for over 10 years).

Does anyone have any experience with Safeco? I'm not against changing and have no problems with progressive. Just looking at opinions.

Safeco is one of those companies that will initally give you a low quote and price, then shoot their rates up on renewal.

We made the same switch a few years ago.(Progressive to Safeco) So far so good. My wife filed a minor claim damages caused by the last hurricane and I have no complaints.

Come to think of it I haven't shopped in a while so I guess I'll take a look around to make sure I'm still getting a decent deal from Safeco. I don't recall them jacking up the rates on me at renewal but those things do have a way of sneaking up on folks.

Yeah, progressive is sneaky like that. I'll beat them down then it creaps up $10 for 6 months then $10 more for 6 months and before you know it, you're through the roof. Then I call and beat them back down. Well this time my insurance lady asked if I wanted her to shop around so I said why not. And Safeco blew progressive away.

I have had safeco for several years and no real major premium increases. The minor increases I have had I had my broker about and she said all her companines had about the same increase.

I have USAA. Probably pay a little more but I guess knowing they won't give me any shite when I file a claim is nice

Have safeco insurance now. Changed a little over one year ago. I struck a dear about 1 month after changing to safeco. No hassel. Paid claim within one week. No rate increase noted at the time I renewed my policy.

Safeco is a good company. Make sure you get full glass deductible on comprehensive. You've been getting raped at progressive.

It's illegal to rate you for a comprehensive (hitting a deer, hail, hit and run, etc) claim.

No insurance company can do that.
