Wisky Running attack - a heads-up

Wisky vs. USC
I watched this game just trying to form an opinion on Wisconsin's offense based on fact instead of assumption, and came back with a few take-aways:
1. Watching Wisky's offense is like watching LSU's offense, physical, power, punch you in the mouth style football, which is probably a good thing, because it's the kind style our defense sees everyday in practice;
2. Their veteran offensive line is really strong, and both Gordon and Clement have top end speed and hit the hole really fast, also can make great cuts in open space. USC's DLine last year was quite solid, and yet still got pushed around and run over all day. If our young DLine doesn't step up big time and penetrate to the back field, it's going to be a long night for them;
3. Replacing Joel with Tanner looks like a right move as Joel doesn't look too sharp in the bowl game against SEC pass defense. Tanner as least brings a X factor to use his legs to create opportunity for the RBs.
This game is going to be a close one in the trenches, and whoever wins the time of possession will come out on top.

I agree. Although some people may think this is an easy match, I completely disagree.If we win the turnover battle then we will come out on top, imo.

I disagree. LSU's qb question mark isn't as bad as theirs. Both LSU qbs are extremely good.
As far as the running backs, I will take our stable any day.
Wisky will have their wake-up call saturday night. LSU wins by at least 10.

baptism by fire for the young LSU defense

Why does everyone act like we're the only one with young players or replacement players on defense? Everyone had to replace key players like every other year except most teams can't replace the previous players with the caliber of player that we can.
I agree this will prepare us though for the rest of the year. If we can make it a passing game for them though, it's a wrap I believe. Meet Mr. White and crew.

I tend to agree with those that see it close. Hope I'm wrong .

We win by 3 touchdowns. I will bump this thread after it happens.

I think this is extremely premature to say. I hope you are right though.

Wisky got their yards and will get some against us.
But at the end of the day, they scored 17 (offensively against USC) which is slightly below the USC average and they lost their only decent receiver.
Their offensive production faded towards the end of the year as teams adjusted to what Gordon et al brought to the table.
White was the pass blocker and receiver... Gordon was a terrible pass blocker and not used in receiving game at all.

I agree. Their offensive running game is solid, but Chavis will load the box, rush an inexperienced passer and force them to pass against DBU. We win by 10-13

I can see LSU winning big, but even there I think Wisconsin will move the ball on the ground a fair amount. In other words, even if LSU dominates it won't be because Wisconsin's offense is awful.
I expect LSU to win comfortably, but that's mostly based on my confidence in special teams, LSU's D's ability to make a turnover, and the fact that the O vs D for both teams are so similar (strong rush attack vs a D front with some question marks, though LSU has fewer questions marks than Wisc). I have a lot of respect for Wisconsin's ability to run the ball, though, and am excited to have another strong opponent right out of the gate.

And you know this how?
I'm sure Wisky fans are saying the same thing about their QB fwiw.

This is basically crazy talk. Stave is something like 19-3 in games he's started. If he hadn't gone down vs South Carolina, UW probably wins that game. McEvoy is a bit of an unknown, but he's been in big time games, is huge, athletic, and mature.

We'll be able to handle the WR'S with single coverage.
Our LB's will be the difference I'm this game

Thank you. We definitely needed another thread about this.

It'd be great if someone watched Mcevoy's juco games. Is he a guy who wants to break contain all the time, like Harris, or is he like AJ, a guy who tries to pass from the pocket first.
If he's a run first guy, we'll be rushing him like we did JFF. Otherwise we'll pin the ears back and go get him. I'm sure Chavis already knows and has prepared, but it would be nice to know.

I don't remember the start of a season when I just really didn't have a solid feel for the outcome of the game like this year. I was very confident before the Oregon opener.
This time, I can see anything between an LSU rout and Wisconsin winning in a squeaker. Just can't fathom Wisconsin winning big simply because I'm accustomed to our players being more athletic.
