We used to run this play under Fisher and Crowton and we were dominant with it.

Has anyone who went to the scrimmages seen it this year?

Really takes advantage of aggressive defenses and tough to coach against

I'm pretty sure we ran it in the redzone for a td against Arkansas in 2011. Not sure I've seen it since.

Also, in the "spike it" game, we ran it for a huge gain in the 2 minute offense. We then tried it in the Mud Pitt against Penn State in the same situation and did nothing but run off clock. It was a disaster.

My favorite was the D Bowe/Early D inside tunnel screen. Start him out wide, then bring him into the slot with motion. Have him run a short out, then bend it back inside underneath the pulling lineman. Was a thing of beauty!

Last I remember was against Clemson, we tried it near the goal line with Dickson.

A perfectly timed screen play is a beautiful thing. Catch the defense on a blitz on that side and it'll be a huge game. Catch them sitting back in man coverage and you'll have a disaster.

That was such a dumb playcall in that situation

That's the play I'm talking about. Have a qb who can throw an accurate slant and it is deadly

Ik we were incorrectly called for a penalty for it on a TD against UF in 2006 (one of 2 that took away TDs on that drive)

This is key. It has to be accurate and quick. The throw can't make the WR slow down. Russell was the perfect QB to run this play.

I dont think we have run it since Jimbo. That was my favorite play. We used to run it in intramurals and it would work like a charm. Everybody blitzing or being run off and nobody staying home.

ETA: Jimbos entire route tree was awesome. His double move routes run by Bowe, Davis, and Doucet were awesome. Watching those post corners or corner posts or corner outs were amazing. It required great protection though and a cannon arm, both of which we had. They used to have a D Bowe LSU highlight reel on Youtube with Lil Waynes Best Rapper Alive track that highlighted his route running well, but I cant seem to find it anymore.

We ran it in 2007, but I believe we kept his playbook in place so that we didn't have to install a new one for Flynn who had a firm grasp on it.

We def ran it against Penn State in 2009 when we had no timeouts at the end of the game. It didn't gain the 1st down, and we got a 15 yard penalty for pulling a PSU player out of the pile

We trusted JR to bring it to the LOS with him and check to it if he felt the D was going to blitz heavy. JR doesn't get credit with how much responsibility the coaches gave him for calling plays at the LOS

I loved his double post with Reed and Clayton against the cover 2. Pulled the safeties away and gave Rohan the inside throw over the middle or the long throw to the corner based on what the right safety did

Similar but not exactly the same. The Jimbo version brought the wide out into the slot on motion, then he ran a quick out/arrow, then bent it back in (up the tunnel). With the Jimbo version, the previously inside receiver/now outside receiver stacked on top of the slot guy and ran off the defenders, like a pick play. The Jimbo version had more separation and allowed for more YAC.

First time I ever saw this play was Dan Marino to Tony Martin for a game winning TD over the Bills. Love it. Gives the OL a chance to crunch DB's.
