What is the most disappointed you have been in a fine dining experience?

Not a huge big deal, but I took my family to Disney World and we ate at Narcoossee's in the Grand Floridian Resort. It was supposed to be fine dining. I ordered the Grilled 7-oz Filet Mignon for around $50. I paid another $40 to upgrade to Kobe beef. What really set me off was how they cut my steak up for me. It came out already sliced up. I love cutting my own steak and savoring each bite. It really took the wind out of my sails!

ETA Changed it to KOBE

Sitka and Spruce

This place in Seattle. The most disappointing $$$ meal I've had. The space was beautiful. The open kitchen concept was awesome and fun. I wanted to like it so much. But the food was just so meh.

Juban's on Mother's Day. Service was slow (as to be expected), but the food was much blander than I anticipated.

Is this some kind of meat/cheese hybrid? If so, it may have been worth the $40 upgrade just to be able to claim you were one of the first to try it.

Ditka's on St Charles..

$120 for a dry overcooked filet and a baked potato that wasn't hot enough to melt butter.

The most recent thing that comes to mind is Barley Swine in Austin. Went a few weeks ago while visiting. It's not that the food was terrible, just kind of a big let down. We made reservations a few weeks out. It's $75 a person. They bring u out like 14 one bite courses. Some stuff was interesting. Everything was majorly lacking in salt. I had so much other great food, food trucks a what not, that this place was a huge let down for what my final bill was

although it seems they have certainly changed a bit since we went (2 years ago), as they did not take reservations and you ordered a la carte

we ordered the entire menu for around $100

what was wrong there?

Delmonico for me. Several meals with bad food and slow service. Mother's Day Brunch took the cake though. Most over priced terrible meal I have ever paid for.

I am not sure if it counts as fine dining, but "The Grill" in Baton Rouge was pretty terrible. Incredibly expensive, service was slow (1 hour between appetizers and main course), food was terrible.

Wifey order seared scallops in a pasta. They brought out the pasta first and then about 10 minutes later, the scallops on a side plate.

If "The Grill" doesn't count as fine dining, then I'll go with 18 steakhouse at L'Auberge. We went there on Christmas Eve (possible cause). The service was terrible, the steak with 60% fat, the prices were high.

For example, our appetizer plate was on the table all the way through dessert. Strange. My ribeye was so fatty I only ate about 1/2 of it.

STELLA. Without question. Now that it is gone and I read what the chef/owner's solution was - I know why. Boswell "spared no expense" in a way that honored no value.

We went to North Cali/ Tahoe area for our honeymoon. One night we went to some fancy joint I think in Kings Beach. Being on a honeymoon and ballin like an OTer I didn't let the market price price tag on the surf and turf scare me. So when I get the miniscule 1/3 ounce fillet, lobster tail Mcnugget and piece of parsley I assumed that the market price would be at the most in the range of the other entrees, which were about $35. It was a shitty assumption. The 2nd grader portion of surf and turf was 90 bucks. And the Turf wasn't even Colby. The martinis that I was knocking back like it was prohibition eve were in the 20's apiece. The whole damn deal cost us in the mid 300's and was not even remotely worth it.
