Levi Stadium's grass is still not playable

The thicker-cut field installed two days before Sunday's preseason game against the San Diego Chargers was meant as a temporary solution because the sod cannot generate the deep roots needed for long-term use.
Now, team officials are also removing and making undisclosed "tweaks" to part of the sand base below the turf, and are ripping out the entire 2.5-acre playing surface, including the sidelines and the area behind the endzones, which had not previously been replaced.
It's unclear how much the new field will cost, though the original playing surface had a $1.4 million budget. The 49ers said for the first time Monday that the team will pay for the turf replacement, taking pressure off the public Santa Clara Stadium Authority, which funded the bulk of construction.

The turf needs to be colored denim blue.
With faded colors along random portions of the field.

I hate stories like this bc natural grass is so much safer and aesthetically pleasing than field turf.

Sorry, I thought we were done with the unfunny puns and ready to discuss it. My bad.

It's probably eco friendly too.
I bet the toilet papers green or it's just leaves.

Why the fvck do this many stadiums have so much trouble growing grass? It's fvcking grass. They have entire majors on how to grow it.

I don't get it either... you look at NFL Films from the 60s and 70s and the grass looks fine. And that was back before all this technology with the sprinklers and sod and heater.
I mean goddamn Brazil had beautiful grass for the World Cup... They don't even have bathrooms in half of the cities

Stadiums are built more closed than they used to be. The field gets less sun than it needs, which prevents it from growing deep roots.

Brazil had some real trouble with their turf establishment. All the way up to games being played.
Stadium shade is killer these days.

What exactly are they going to do in a short time to fix this? Leave it dirt and paint it?
