I went out of cocodrie. Three hour miserable boat ride. How far do you go out of Venice to catch deep water fish.

You can run 30-40 miles out sometimes and hit blue water. Depends on conditions.

When we go out of venice for tuna summertime 30-40 miles

But, if you can't enjoy the boat ride on a weekend as calm as this one was I don't see how you could enjoy offshore fishing very much

Three miles out of Venice is in the 200 ft deep range so not very far at all if you consider snapper a deep water fish. You still have a 20+ mile down the river though.

It was slick as owl shite from coco to the canyon this weekend. You must have been on a Contender.

As others have said depends upon what you call deep water. Snapper in Venice can be caught 20 min from the launch. We ran about 40 minutes on Saturday and had limits of Snapper and AJ in about 30 min, then trolled for mackerel. Couldn't buy a mangrove though. Tuna will get close over the next two months.
