Of course, not all these players are true starters. However, it is looking like Lovie Smith is doing something right, landing 3 defensive players in the top 5 in their position.

The Bucs have one of the few defenses that really scares me

What they did in FA was scary. They might have a very subpar offense, but they have the ability to have a top 5 defense this year IMO.

1. Gerald McCoy, TB: +16.7

Breakdown: While it’s important to remember that it’s preseason, the Tampa Bay defensive lineman’s play this August has been little short of ridiculous. That grade has come on a mere 67 snaps with McCoy producing multiple highlight reel plays despite only being on the field such a limited amount of snaps.

Signature Stat: From just 21 snaps against the run, McCoy has recorded four tackles resulting in a defensive stop.

It is looking like the yards after contact is what has given him such a high score.

Mccown to Vjax/Evans = Mccown to Bmarsh/Jeffery. if doug martin comes back strong, they will have a solid offense too

they have the potential to blow up this year...but they are tampa

I can see that, and he is a tough runner.

I love PFF and all, but Ingram has been a monster in the first 3 games, plus Ingram has shown ability to catch the ball, which isn't Robinson's game.

Getting rid of Revis who wasn't a right fit for their system and adding Verner, adding Michael Johnson, and then adding Clinton McDonald who I think could have a great year were so good pickups.

Mike Jenkins also had an average to above average year last year. Not on the defensive side of the ball, but the addition of McCown is at least better than any of their recent starters they have had.

Golson was on the team last year. Their defense wasnt good.

Michael johnson has had 1 above average year in the NFL.

And now he is in Lovie Smith's system, which will probably help him have another above average season. While Lovie Smith had some seasons where his teams weren't the best defensively, his teams were normally very good at getting turnovers.
