Another MSM Racial meme. First ALL BLACK team to possibly win WS. And where from...Chicago! Is this political/cultural; or have all the Whites just split the scene up there. Will highlighting this help strained relations; or is such a non-issue?

Whatever, I'm inclined to root for the boys if it instills character, and keeps em' from going rogue.

Might watch a few innings.

I have a hunch that very few if any of the kids who are in the LLWS come from at-risk environments. Usually the parents who have the wherewithal to involve their kids in baseball at a young age, are pretty solid in other aspects of their parenting.

Maybe this will get more inner city kids interested in America's past time. I support. The game is played on the field. Let's not take that away from them.

This.

Numbers wise, there is more of an opportunity to play a long baseball career, whether in the minors or MLB, than making an NBA roster or playing in the NFL without risking your brain.

I guess anything and everything can be and will be politicized these days, to the detriment of all mankind, RDC. Used to be, things were taken at face value. Until the truly scared learned to manipulate the Fear and spread it so as not to feel alone. Strange days, my friend..

That makes a lot of sense...

Baseball in general is the shittiest sport. Regardless if Aggies play it, Tigers play it, or inner-city kids play it.

Sorry the truth hurts.

This is exactly what MLB wants.

Baseball is becoming a dying sport and it needs a shot in the arm.

The MLB should be dumping money into inner city baseball programs IMO. I know LSU, Southern and Tulane played a tournament in NOLA to kick off the season last year in partnership with the MLB to help get inner city kids interested in it.

Of course not. That's a pretty superficial way to judge people, not that I've heard them talk anyway.

Now - there are lots of kids making a living playing bball in Europe, your point is well taken. At any given time, there are ~450 NBA players on contract (15 per team). There are ~318 NFL players in just the states of California and Florida - just the nature of the game - you need 5 to 8 great players, and another dozen or so good players to make any sort of a splash in the NFL - 1 great and 2 good players can win an NBA championship if everything falls out just right.

And baseball is pure numbers.
