I'm sure a lot of people have some form of mental illness. I'm talking people you know that truly need help. I know two who are so screwed up that it's frightening. I don't consider them a threat physically but they are so delusional and manipulative it almost seems to approach evil.
These are people that M. Scott Peck talks about in his book "People Of The Lie"

You want to remember that while you're judging the book, the book is also judging you.

Anyone with a mental illness needs help. You probably know more people suffering than you think.

Depression can appear as dementia is some people. It's called pseudodementia, or dementia of depression. If the depression is treated, the dementia symptoms will also resolve. She would need to see a neuropsychologist for differential diagnosis, if she was willing.

I have an ex ole lady that is a lunatic, she has a way to make you look like the crazy one and can get others to buy into it. Yet she is the one that takes psychotropics and is in and out of asylums

So you have Dissociative Identity Disorder and both of your primary identities are schizophrenic?

Boarderline Personality Disorder runs in my family. Most of the women in my family show signs of it to varying degrees. It's manageable with therapy and medication.

Although I haven't maintained contact, should I include all of the people I have met in nut houses?

Is there a great deal of chaos, divorce or abuse in your family? Most with borderline pd result from environmental conditions growing up.

I know one person that is undergoing treatment at a residential facility.

Other than that, the only mental illness I witness on a daily basis is liberal progressivism and occasionally bouts of depression, which may or may not go treated.

I knew one guy in my life who I'm convinced is a genuine psychopath. Narcissist to the point of complete delusion. Dangerous to be around that type imo.
