Finally got a weekend off while working in Galliano and want to take the yak out. Any suggestions on where to go?

Catfish lake area. Launch at golden meadow park and fish the canals around the launch. Should be plenty of reds. Use minnow or market shrimp under a cork in the main canals. Spoons if you venture into ponds

You really don't have to venture far from the GM public launch. Two weeks ago I put over 20 fish in the yak within 100 yards of the launch. Only problem is it is canal fishing... no sight fishing or hearing fish hit. When I ventured to the marshy areas, I got nothing but rats. My advice is to stick to the canals looking for moving water and be sure to fish all points of canal intersections.

Most popular bait: cliche Vudu shrimp under cork but bring some market shrimp and you will never skunk
