Does a one loss SEC west team (namely LSU, Bama, Auburn) go to the playoffs over an undefeated SEC east team. For instance Mizzou wins the east and beats a undefeated west team. Do they get the nod even though their OOC games are laughable at best and the east in general isn't really strong top to bottom.

Sorry if retarded. We were discussing this at work and I thought back to 2011. I mean think of all the ranked teams we beat that year. I don't think the voting committee would let that team set out of the playoffs had we lost to Georgia. Could be wrong but sorry for the retarded question lol.

In 2011 the undefeated SEC team got in. In your scenario, an SEC east team runs the tables and wins the SECCG and gets left out, and replaced by an SECW team that they may have even already beaten. That's not happening.

Are you suggesting that it should be impossible for an SEC East team to make it into the playoffs?

The one loss teams only loss would be to the East team in the SEC championship game. How else would they only have one loss ?

Not necessarily. There could be other one loss SECW team(s) not make the SECCG

Scenario:
LSU and Missouri go undefeated, LSU loses to Missouri in the SEC Championship ( that's the only way LSU could have only one loss). Of course Missouri would go instead of LSU or anybody else in the SEC.

That team could possibly be allowed in as the fourth if the rest of the field is far behind, but there is no possible way in hell they go in the stead of an undefeated SEC champ. When you start talking about a second one-loss SEC team getting in, things get dicey, but that's a different thread.

No, it's not. OP is still asking a dumb question though.

In OP's defense, LSU may also have a case to get in along with Missouri in this scenario, depending on what else happens around the country. Nothing will keep an undefeated SEC champion out, though.

Not at all. My question did not come out at all like I wanted it to. I was asking more along the lines if the voting committee will take strength of schedule into consideration more so than overall record. Just made it to much of a drastic scenario lol.

Yes, I think the question he meant to ask after a little more thinking is what will it take for a second SEC team to get in. There could potentially (however unlikely) be three one-loss SEC teams in addition to the undefeated SEC champ. Or, a one-loss division winner could win in ATL over an undefeated division champ leaving a really attractive fourth. Regardless of scenario, no one really has the answer right now.

A better example would be, a 1 loss Alabama vs an undefeated Penn State
