DOJ doesn't keep stats on prosecutions. Yet, most claim there is an overwhelming problem with cops unjustifiably killing perps.

The evidence just doesn't support it. But since when does that matter?

what would be interesting to see is how many times cops were not cleared, in relation to this number.

Its highly improbably that 100% of cop killings are justified, but if in the end 100% (or even 90%) of killings are ruled justifieable, its probably means we have a process problem.

I keep hearing that there's an epidemic of black men being killed by cops. With no evidence to support it.

What evidence? Just because their DA and FBI friends rule that the shooting was justified does not serve as evidence that the homicide was justified. And 400 out of what? Terrible post.

The "evidence" is that if this narrative were true as we're led to believe by the MSM and race baiters, you'd have LA/Ferguson/Trayvon type riots in every major city in the country every weekend.

EVIDENCE doesn't support it.

False premise, false conclusion.

That didn't clear up anything. That just confirmed that there is confusion. That article just says that there is evidence that there are more police killings than can be confirmed, but since they aren't documented, no one can tell who, what, when, where, or why. You can't make any conclusions from that article relating to racial issues.

Common sense conclusion. Something that doesn't exist anymore.

I'm sure, as you would remember seeing this kind of thing on the news every weekend.

You have no evidence and your common sense = baseless assumptions.

My assumptions are based on this:

1) the sensationalizing 24 hr news media would cover it endlessly if it were happening to that extent.

2) I'd remember seeing it if they did.

What about some law that mandates a jury trial if a cop shoots an unarmed citizen when there is no solid evidence of assault on the cop, like bruises or cuts.

Admittedly, a vague law, but something in this direction. Take the decision to go to trial out of the "system's" hands.

Moronic ! You would virtually have ZERO police force with asinine idea. If an assailant attmepts to disarm you he has engaged in a 'deadly force encounter', and deadly force is justifiable and the appropriate response if the assailant continues. The officer may not have brusies or cuts in this case.

Example;

Officer initiates traffic stop for erratic driving, driver exits vehicle and charges officer in attempt to disarm him. Struggle ensues, officer has control of weapon but assailant is still attempting to gain control, officer shoots to stop the deadly force encounter. Now officer goes to trial b/c he has no cuts or bruises ?

Yet you take stock in your "cops cleared more than 400 times" statement?

Read that again, along with the quoted material you stated (I quoted above) and see if it makes sense.

The justice dept counts on self reporting by local and state police depts.

A total of 1,501 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty during the past 10 years, an average of one death every 58 hours or 150 per year. There were 100 law enforcement officers killed in 2013.
