Just had jury duty and there were SO many things I wanted to ask during the trial but of course couldn't.
Can jurors on a grand jury ask questions or for clarification of information??

Yes. They also only hear the prosecution's side of things, unless there is a request by the defense to be heard. Also, they only decide if there is enough evidence to go to trial. It's a stacked deck, and not unusual for indictments to come down. I served on one once, 3 weeks, split up the first week of Jan, Feb and March. Heard over 700 felony cases, probably less than 20 came back that wasn't a true bill.

Even in the best of cases, it is a stacked deck - the prosecutor 'can indict a ham sandwich' is mostly a true condition.
But in this case - there is absolutely do doubt - the 'civil rights' monster needs to be fed and this officer is the sacrificial lamb.

You can indict a ham sandwich

They can ask the questions THEY want to ask, not the ones the prosecutor wants to ask. All it takes is one member who is aware of this fact.

The only time I can remember that someone was brought in front of a grand jury and wasn't indicted was the guy who shot the teenager in the Bywater who was breaking into his property.

Yes, and can ask for additional evidence...

Yes, in all the GJ that I testified in, I was asked questions every time by the jury members. After the evidence is presented the jury can reach a decision of "True Bill" in which the person is indicted, "No True Bill" which means no indictment and case is essentially over, or "Pretermit" which means the jury found that there was not sufficient evidence to either rule True bill or No True bill. The case is "tabled" and can be brought back at any time.
I have seen several Pretermits (with homicide cases)

Yes. It has been my experience that each GJ is different. Some ask more questions than others. Questions are a good thing. It is a stacked deck but even with that, they return no bills.

So in the eventual grand jury for this Missouri situation ... if a juror "has heard about" possible facial fractures to the cop, if it's not brought up by the prosecution, can a juror ask about it?
Honestly just curious.

yes, but it would be brought up
it is a big no no to withhold exculpatory evidence

How does that go down?
"I ask you fine jurors to indict this man!!"
"Btw, Brown broke his face..."
