Giving a presser before and after...
Can someone please tell me the big deal with this? So he vetoed funding for the public integrity unit, because someone in charge of the program got a DWI and wouldn't step aside?
And FTR, I am in no way a pro-Perry guy.

I used to work like a block from there, kind of weird seeing it on TV in that context

Perry seems a little old to be an a&m football player

Any insight on the indictment? I'm not seeing the big deal.
Person in charge of integrity unit commits a crime.
Gov tell person to step down because they can't represent the program
Person refuses
Gov vetoes funding until she does

Only one thing is certain, his hair will look awesome in the booking photo.

there's been quite a war between Perry and the people of Austin for quite some time. A lot of it has revolved around the Bill Powers (President of UT) situation. Forgetting politics for a second I don't like Perry just as someone who seems openly antagonistic of the city he lives in at times. From what I understand GWB was not like that at all, despite being conservative.
IMO it's partly political, partly personal. I don't think they would pushing ahead with it though if they didn't think they had a case. I have no clue how it will turn out though.

Perry should embrace it.
This helps him.
This helps him.

Yep, the base is looking for someone who's going to fight.
If you haven't yet, check out my above link.

Yeah, I read it was highly politicized...

honestly i think the fact that he's a loud and proud aggie has more to do with it than the fact that he's a republican.
ETA: not the indictment itself, i mean the poisoned environment between perry and the city of austin that has led us to this point. Being as conservative as he is doesn't help anything though.

Apparently saying "I'm going to use my power of veto unless X happens" is a crime and Perry is the first one to ever say it and follow through.
I can't imagine Perry being convicted of anything, but the side of me that just generally dislikes all politicians hopes he does just to watch the chaos. What sort of precedent will be set by convicting an executive for using powers granted to him? Can't wait.

Basically, the Libs own Austin and have used their little fiefdom to go after the Republican governor with criminal charges over a political dispute.
It's a little move of a chess piece in the over all game which is to criminalize political opposition to liberalism.

Perry is an Aggie?
Well that explains A LOT

I respect how he's standing up like a man
and dealing with this.
Good luck to Gov. Perry.

yeah and (according to the UT people) he's used his position to frick over Texas both academically and athletically. I'm hazy on their reasoning but that's what they tell me.
GWB was just as conservative but he repped the horns

It sure does.
Perry's indictment a blessing in disguise
quote:
"Kind of ironically, it's helped him," said Craig Robinson, founder of the Iowa Republican, a conservative news Web site. "I think people kind of see this as an overreach, and he's kind of the victim."
It's an overreach, just like Clinton's impeachment.

The loons in TX just made Perry somewhat of a martyr.
