Killing journalists, especially in this fashion, is likely something most terrorist groups view as counterproductive. Support from the west, or at least some level of compliance, tends to come from progressive communities where journalists are typically admired.

Probably another example of how ISIS is an outlaw terrorist group even by extremist standards.
