You are trying to impart rationality to a subject (religion) that is anything but. Religions came of age when man knew next to nothing about the world around him. The fact that people still think there is this human personification or "God" out there who gets angry and vengeful with his own "creation" is the epitomy of Bronze Age thinking. If you try to use any logic as it is known to modern man you will end up chasing your tail. People only believe the tenets of their religion because that is where they were geographically and culturally raised and were conditioned from a young age to believe. It is not easy to jettison beliefs that were directly downloaded into your subconscious from the ages of 0 to 6. Religion and its Us vs Them thinking is the bane of humanity.

Exactly my thoughts. The gen was a vocal liberal who was against the war, the media was there demonizing us and getting people killed, they needed a scapegoat.
