What draft slot is most successful in a snake draft?

I have 3rd choice in picking my draft slot. 2nd and 3rd are already taken. Should I go #4 or is a later middle slot statistically better like #6?

Statistically, the last pick is the best. I really need to find the article to link it.

I really like 7 this year as you get one of the big 5 RB's or Mega or DT in the first and good value in the second.

I ALWAYS prefer later in the draft. Being early is too much pressure to get your pick right. For example, if you have the first pick and pick McCoy, what happens when McCoy gets hurt or busts? It should theoretically destroy you because your next best drafted player was 24th overall... 1st to 24th is a gigantic dropoff. Plus, most years there is not a significant difference between the 1st pick and 3rd or 4th pick. They are all typically the 4-5 "elite" players of that year. Might as well have the 3rd pick, get AP or Forte, and get better value in the 2nd.
For me, late in the draft is the tits. If you are anywhere from 10th-12th, You can expand your portfolio by getting 2 of the top 15-16 players. Fantasy is as much about consistency as it is about luck. I always feel much safer leaning on two top 15 guys than the supposed #1 player and #24.
Lastly, the later you are in the draft, the better value you get when morons in your league make huge reaches. There's always the homer that takes Drew Brees way earlier than he should. There's always the clueless, uninformed guy who takes a player that's injured or suspended. There's always the guy that makes a huge reach on a rookie or something. There's always the guy that thinks he has to draft a certain position, like RB in the 1st, even if the best value is somewhere else. It's a huge coup when someone like Calvin Johnson falls to you in the 10th-12th spot because some morons really reached in the middle.

7 or 8 are good spots IMO

I think the 4 spot is money this year.
