In what age range are teenagers drinking where you live?

At what age would you be ok with your kid having a drink at an "after-party?" Is this a South Louisiana thing or everywhere? Just curious of the "norms" where you live.

I'd say 14 to 15 was when most guys started

I wouldn't "allow" drinking in high school but I wouldn't go out of my way to catch them either....they wouldn't be doing it in front of me

It amazes me how some parents can be so naive to teenage drinking.

When I was a teen, waaay back in the 80's, guys started around 14 or 15.
By 16 or 17, everyone was drinking.
And you could buy booze at 18, so everyone had an older brother/sister/cousin/friend who could hook you up till you hit 18.

No matter where you are, kids start drinking or smoking weed around 15.

8th and 9th grade is when we started drinking. Parents knew and it wasn't a big deal. It was nothing to tell them I was headed to T.J.'s or the Boot with my friends when I was in high school.
In fact, a very well respected Nola family I went to school with even helped their 15 yr old kid make a fake id. We are all successful adults now and drinking as teenagers did not harm us in any way. In fact, it taught us how to be responsible and not go wild in college like many sheltered kids who went crazy with drinking and drugging.
