“As it turned out, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones had snatched the Manziel card straight out of his dad’s hand. Otherwise, Jerry would have drafted him and JFF would have sat for at least three years behind Tony Romo.”

They are quoting straight from the Dallas Morning News.

Jones made his "that close" comment on NFL Network on July 28. And in a new book, "Manziel Mania," author Jim Dent reveals that Jones couldn’t resist himself from drafting Manziel. Instead, his son Stephen, the team's executive vice president, held his father back from drafting Manziel

Its also why I put a question mark behind it. Its from a book about Manziel. Seems rather dubious.

To say the least. Isn't Jones in the Cowboys war room in Dallas on draft day? And aren't the cards in New York where the draft is?

frick Stephen Jones. What an absolute dumb count. God dammit.

ETA: If it's true. If not, I'm sure Mr. Jones is a lovely man.

Stephen Jones did the right thing. Romo isn't the problem in allas..the lack of D is! The Boys couldn't afford to use that pick on a Romo back-up.

Drafting my Tarkenton-esque 3rd cousin isn't the panacea to the endless sea of 8 and 8 for the Boys. Need defensive help to battle Philly, Wash, NYG, and/or Sea/SF/GB/NO/Chi.

The distractions of his Dallas, Tyler, & ATM entourages would hinder not help JFF's NFL and personal growth..imho. His father, mother, and grandfather feel the same.

Trust that God put him where he's supposed to be. Even LeBron, I feel will be a good mentor, Cleveland..it was meant to be!

God, what an amazing shite show it would have been if Johnny Manziel went to Dallas. People would have booed Romo every time the Cowboys had to punt.
