Would have been classy and predictable for obama to show up and blame Bush. If I were a member of the general’s family I would be satisfied barry stayed away.

Maybe his not being there was the dying request of this officer. I wouldn't doubt it

A KIA is a KIA. I'm not sure why a general killed in action would deserve more honors than a private.

His life isn’t any more valuable than a private’s life and his death isn’t any more tragic than a private’s death. However, a general is a much more important cog in our military’s operating system. Its not a matter of personal worth.

I’m certain obama would forgo a trip to the course if Magic Johnson lost his battle with AIDS.

Should a Commander in Chief receive more honors than a Private? Should any Public Servant?

No. Although, I'm looking at this through the lens of a former enlisted man and Honor Guard member.

My first enlistment (81-84) was as an 11B in B Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Infantry. The movie "Gardens of Stone" is dead on accurate. Cannot imagine what my brothers went through during this long war.

Flags would be at half staff for a month.
