apparently an ex-Pixar animator has got the greenlight for his own feature

quote:

This short film created by former Pixar animator Adam Wood is so good that Adam McKay and Will Ferrell will be producing a movie based on it. It tells the story of a clumsy janitor at a museum who accidentally finds himself inside the sophisticated, out-of-control armor of a famous supervillain.

Are any old style animation movies ever going to be made again?

Nope.

Disney killed it with Frozen, which was supposed to be, and started out as, a hand-drawn film that was following the success of the Princess and the Frog.

Then it made a billion dollars and no one wants hand drawn but Anime fans.

Looks like the Incredibles meets Greatest American Hero meets Night at the Museum

In my opinion, hand drawn has less limitations. Wish there was still a major studio, that had a sub-studio still dedicated to that art.

I didn't think it was that good, tbh

Oh certainly. I also like the look of it more. Computer-animated, while magnificent in their own right, lack the artistic wow moments of a good hand drawn film.

It's just that hand-drawn is so expensive, that's the only barrier. Lots of man hours and talented human resources needed.

While I still think Frozen is great, it is a small tragedy it wasn't classically animated. Could have been the most beautiful animated film ever.
