Which player do you guys think could take this defense from being the expected "good" to being a "great" defense? I will say Hunter just because it all starts upfront and if he consistently sets the edge on the run and can record 8-11 sacks, that would be a gamechanger.

Upside relative to where they are now? Adams. True freshman who will probably see 20-30 snaps (if not starting) by year's end.

Do you actually know that or you're just assuming?

Yeah, my vote is going to the 6 and a half foot DE named Hunter sporting LaRon guns. There is no way that every single QB won't have DH at the top of their "Holy shite" list before every pass play.

I would love to see that guy wave his finger after every ball he swats down while shaking his head and telling the QB "Not in my house"

Now that's some Mutumbo upside right there buddy boy.

I say there are two key positions that have the potential to take us from good to great: 1) Herron preforming better than Freak and Ego; and 2) Beckwith emerging as a true force at MLB. Our best option for success this year is to emulate the 2011 team. But, we don't have the depth at DT like we did back then; however, we can make up from that lack of depth with better LB play - Welter isn't the answer for the level of play needed.

but our defensive coordinator with 30 years of experience thinks different....... yea i will trust in my d-coordinator, rather than your opinion

I'll say Herron. We need a big impact on that defensive front and he's got a great chance to do something special there.I also think if Jefferson gets significant time at SS we will benefit from probably the most athletic secondary ever assembled. I think he's the underdog here.

I like Sione's instincts. He's a guy that will make a lot if noise in a year for sure.

I totally respect your very educzted and well spoken opinion but I should suggest that you've left out the best part of this year's DBU caliber defense.

The Chief loves him some Mustang dude! Nobody does it better my good man. In that 2011 season Chavis was blitzing like a happy arse retard playing the new Madden game. That stuff totally redefined LSU's defense and this is the first year that the secondary will be deep enough to handle it.

And for all of the Mills raggers, I expect Jalen to play a damned strong role in filling the voids that are left by CB blitzers fast enough to burglarize any wannabe hot route happy QBs that they face this year.

Damned I feel good today. I just keep getting happier and happier the closer we get to abusing Wiscy's arse like the wannabe tough guys that they are.
