First of all, I'm not calling you out on this. I personally haven't seen the video, but you yourself said that CNN had edited the video in a way that removed certain content that would've tended to exonerate the officer.

So based on that, I honestly would like to get your input on a couple of things:

(1) in your opinion, why did CNN even bother to edit this video? It's not like they are working under the constraints of a 30-minute news broadcast. They are a 24/7 news channel, and this is the biggest story they're covering.

(2) What's your opinion of why CNN's edit just happens to delete footage which you yourself said would tend to be favorable to Wilson? Do you believe that it was done deliberately?

I would be interested to get your response to these two questions.

I think Rex has been completely fair and unbiased in his discussions of this situation. I believe he said that he was upset about how CNN edited the video as well.

I know Rex has said that he was upset with the edit. I'm simply asking him why he thinks CNN did it.

Controversy sells. Not like he can successfully sue the news for selective editing.

The volume of the "witness testimony" was really low... and of low quality.

CNN showed a clip of the video to show a viewer what it was like. No news channel would ever show a full 4-5 minute raw video full of foul language and a dead body.

i think that CNN should star a new web site at cnn.xxx before al jazera beats them to it. That way the could show news without any filters.

I've been surprised at Rex's comments on the issue as well. He seems to be presenting the facts as they are known for open debate.

I have been pleasantly surprised too.

I commended Rex for his input, too.

I started this thread simply because the subject of media bias comes up on this board all the time. Here was an instance where a board liberal was disappointed in the way CNN edited a video, so I just wanted to get his thoughts on the matter.

I guess he doesn't want to cooperate, but that's okay. I wanted to get his take on it, so I tried.

Because he always sees things exactly the opposite of the way I do.

you ever stop to think that maybe it's not him that's usually unreasonable and maybe it's actually you?

No. We see things from a different perspective. I am usually right and he is usually wrong.

i'm consistently impressed by people who self identify as conservative (and sometimes libertarian) and their seeming inability to look at themselves critically as well as their general lack of self awareness. It's a real problem for you people.

Just my own experience, but my ability to look at my views critically and being self aware is why I'm NOT a Liberal anymore.

I think there are a lot of people in the same boat.

Just my 2 cents.
