Granted I'm not a regular on the restaurant scene, but this place used to be pretty damn good. Tonight's experience was way below par. Have I been eating at home too much? What is the deal?

As a former frequent Gov't street La Carreta customer, it was never good. It was just there so we went and then stumbled home.

It's never been very good, to be honest. The chorizo queso is solid but that's about it.

Sorry Jones, didn't mean to omit the details. Essentially, sparse crowd, fajitas weren't anything to brag about. Only three people (all looked underage) at the bar. I just remember it being more crowded, more vibrant, and the food much better.
Maybe it was an off night. Maybe it's just me

It's been going downhill just as fast as Ninfa's IMO.

Good point. Did ownership change at either place?

You're doing it wrong. Need to go to the Burrito shop at Gardere and Burbank. Only legit place I ever found in my five years living in BR

Last time I was at La Carreta we just left because there were flies flying around all over while we were trying to eat

Not true. Ninfa's had a good run in mid to late 90's. The past 7 years or so have been a forgettable experience.
