I passed the old KFC on Airline today and they have "Now Hiring Schlotzsky's" signs up in the windows and have been doing some construction work on the building.

Just passing it along. I enjoyed their sandwiches, but they had a near-100% track record of screwing up my order.

I liked their pizzas when I was younger. Haven't had their food in over a decade I'd imagine. Interesting.

Yeah, that steak and lube place seemed pretty uninspiring. TGI-McFunsterish. I'd probably try a burger though. There is still a lack of retail out here. It seems like the LP is kicking our arse getting shopping developments off the ground. The Cabela's area should grow more. Even Hwy44/I10 could develop nicely I'd think.

Schlotzky's was the bomb in 1997. So I guess it's right on time for Louisiana.

Houma had a Schlotskys in the mid 90's. It was open about 6-6 years.

A roughly 15,000-square-foot shopping center set to go up in Gonzales near the Tanger Outlet Mall and Cabela’s outdoors store will include the Baton Rouge area’s first Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant.
The center will also include a second restaurant, as well as enough retail space for up to four tenants, says Geno Iafrate, president and CEO of i-10 Hospitality, which is developing the center. Discussions are ongoing with prospective restaurant and retail tenants, Iafrate says.

Gonzales has the same problem that BR does. There is no central place in the city. Downtown Gonzales has no charm whatsoever and Hwy 30 has all the traffic necessary for businesses to survive.

It does seem to be on an upswing the last couple years, but too much old space sits empty around the city.

Nail place and game stop in the near future.

Probably a Hot Wok as the other food.

Eh, from what I heard they want it more "upscale" so probably a Snap Fitness, a cafe, a boutique, and maybe a wine and spirit shop

I love that place. I always make a point to stop at the one in Alec if I'm going through at lunch. Medium Original.

The issue is a lack of road infrastructure. 30 needs to be at least 4 lanes with a separate interstate exit for either Tanger or plant traffic, a separate entrance/exit road from Tanger, as well as road widening and left turn lanes and signals for many roads across the parish (44, 42, 73, 431, 70, ect).

If the road infrastructure were improved, there would be increased development.
