Is this Legal? (Amazon/Ebay Question)

Someone I work with told me about a friend of his that is taking items on Amazon, coping the information and selling them on Ebay. After it is sold on Ebay he orders it from Amazon, gets it two days later with prime, and ships it to the Ebay buyer.
For Example, he took a phone from Amazon that is $200 and sold it on Ebay for $300.
The only thing I can see is he is violating terms on one or both of the websites. If it is legal, it is not a bad idea. Apparently the guy is doing pretty WELL doing this.
ETA: Sorry I am a dumb frick and do not do grammar good..................well.

Does he have a business license? Is he claiming the income?
Fwiw, I bet at some point Amazon will figure out what he's doing and revoke his Prime membership.

That is what I am thinking. Why not check Amazon?
It will take one person to see a product on Ebay, go to Amazon, find the same exact thing and report him.

Doubt it.
In fact it's pretty common for people to drop ship items after selling them on ebay (i.e. selling on ebay and having a site like monoprice.com ship directly to the buyer)

Even if they knew, why would they care? Amazon is still selling product.

It would would be pretty funny if he used his free 2 day shipping to just send it to the eBay buyers house.

Not sure how they'd figure out or how much they would care since they aren't losing any money over it.

This is intriguing and would make even more sense as long as ebay would not shut you down. You could offer free shipping without cutting into your profits because Amazon would be shipping it to your customer for free.

It's called retail arbitrage and why the frick would it be illegal? Last I remember America is a capitalistic country that rewards smart and hardworking people.

Report him for what? Being smart? Buying low and selling high?
Someone better turn WalMart, Amazon, and every other retail company in too if that's the case.

This used to be real popular back when you had to spend $100 to get free shipping, then the person buying from amazon would act like they were all gifts and then have them sent the ebay buyers. I doubt all that much of this happens anymore.

Last time I looked, the Amazon Prime 2 day free shipping stated in the legalese that you couldn't use Prime for re-selling products. So, technically, it is against Amazons rules. Now whether or not it would be enforced, I wouldn't think so.

I sell things, from my hobby, on ebay. Who cares where I get them? It's irrelevant.
Sometimes I'll see a terribly-done listing with no info, buy it from my wire's account, and list it with my account before I even have it.

I can see that and understand why but I doubt Amazon cares at all.
