I drove one all the way from BR to Shreveport. He fricking stunk to high heaven. Literally had my head out the window to avoid the smell. I dropped him off in the rain hoping it would help.

I enjoy it, actually. They always have really awesome stories about where they're going and why.

I actually prefer the homeless variety, because they're more appreciative and seem to enjoy the company a little more.

I don't pick up hitchhikers but.. I'll definitely pick up a person walking down roads like Siegen/Perkins if they are in a service industry uniform. See lots of that around the area and applaud these folks and quick to offer a ride home or to work.

Where do you think all the organs for transplants come from?

I'll pick them up on occasion, but I make them ride in the back of the truck.

There was one that wanted to go out of state, but I couldn't do that.

As long as my wife and kids aren't with me I will.

I've never had a hitchhiker give me problems.

I'm almost always in a hurry or going somewhere specific that is nearby so I rarely pick folks up anymore but have in the past and would again in the right circumstances, i.e., young, hot and down-on-their-luck ladies.

I've picked up several. In town, I've given a lift to several old folks and once on a rural county road in Georgia; the guy was drunk and I was afraid he was going to get run over.

Maybe not exactly a hitch hiker but I've stopped and given rides to folks who's cars broke down.

I stopped right before the bay way once and asked a girl where she was going. She said she needed to get to New Orleans and the bus station before her husband found her. No thanks. Don't need some jealous hubby tracking us down on the road.

Were you under the impression that she was married to this guy?:

I picked up an old guy and during the ride he showed me all the heart medicine he needs to take everyday. I drop him off and continue down the road. 30 minutes later I look and his bag of medicine is still in the car. I turned around and went back. He was still on the side of the road hitching and I gave the bag to him. Never picked another one up again. And yes I looked and it was heart medicine not lortabs or anything.

Just out of curiosity....would you have returned it if it had been Lortab?

At the time I would have. Now, I would have taken three or four before returning them.
