Just saw a stat that only 4 rookie WRs over the last 10 years have had 1,000+ yard seasons.

2004
Michael Clayton

2006
Colston

2011
A.J. Green

2013
Keenan Allen

Aside from giving Colston props I have 2 questions.

How the frick did Clayton get on here, and is Allen more like him or more like Green and Colston?

10 years seems like an odd cutoff when Boldin did it in 2003. It has only been done like 10 times since 1970.

Clayton was good in 04 but got hurt in 05 and 06 and then just got lazy.

Allen has a good bit of talent but I certainly think he is more likely to be a guy who hovers around 800-1000 yards but never has a really great season.

So a slightly lesser Colston? I could see that.

And if that is accurate(10 times since 1970) I'm not surprised most of them have come in more recent years(5 in 11 years). After all, "It's a passing league now."

Allen is smaller than Colston. He had troubles with his knee last year that slowed him up a bit. He is a good route runner and most of them of the shorter variety.

Clayton had the most impressive rookie season out of all of them. He had a huge drop-off after his rookie year. I think he lost motivation and got out of shape and was never able to recover from that.

To be fair, there is a lot more passing now than half of that time frame. The cut off makes sense

So out of Watkins, Evans, Cooks, etc., who has the better rookie season.

Just me, but I think Evans is a little overrated.

I think Cooks will be good, but the ball will be spread around so he won't have playstation type numbers.

Watkins will be a main target. But who is going to get him the ball?

In short, we will have to wait an see.

A lot of talented rookie WRs coming in this year. I think more than one breaks 1k yards this year. Cooks has a great chance, I think (hope) he gets a lot of touches.

I'm pretty sure he tore his ACL too which didn't help. Dude was a beast.

I think he will get a lot of touches. He should get at least half of the targets that used to go to Sproles, which gives him about 30-35 catches there, plus another 30-35 in the traditional role since he'll probably be in Stills receiver role from last year since stills will probably be on the outside alot. So, my estimate is roughly 60-70 catches for about 850-1000 yards.

There are only 2 other guys in the league that you can even kinda compare to AJ Green... and they are Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant.

Keenan Allen is pretty similar to Colston in the way they are used and the way they play. They will never lead the league in YPC or YAC but run good routes and catch the ball when it is catchable.
