- I'm probably in the minority, but I liked that Ryan didn't end up with Jenna. She was a completely selfish character, and Ryan finally grew some balls. It'll help him in the long run.

- The show was a buddy comedy, and I feel the conclusion fit with the theme of the show.

Dislikes

- Really my only one: implying that Ryan's sister finally has fulfillment working at an abortion clinic. Really? It was such a nice vibe during the episode, and that kind of snapped me out of it momentarily.

I was kinda pissed about the Jenna thing, but you make a good point. I was at least hoping that they would show a scene with her & Drew being miserable in Wisconsin, or perhaps even feuding on the way there. That would have made me feel a little better.

I understand what you mean about Kristen, but that's just the nature of the show. There never was a joke too dark for it. But it's hard for me to ever object to anything that Dorian Brown ever says. That face....my lord, that face. I'm gonna miss it.

One thing that I didn't like was how Ryan didn't speak up about his experiences when he was talking to his real dad. He nearly went crazy when he was convinced that it was all an illusion. I mean, did he think that it was just some really odd coincidence that the cult believed in something so specific that actually happened to him?

I liked that they owned the idea of Wilfred being a god. I was really hoping they wouldn't cop-out on that. I need to go back and watch it again. The last 10 minutes or so just felt like I was being kicked in the stomach the whole time.

I kind of have to disagree with you there. She's attractive, but she's not gorgeous. Her cheeks do this weird thing when she smiles, like they fold over on each other, more than normal people, sort of like a blood hound. Not trying to be mean, but that's the only way I can think to describe it. She obviously doesn't look like a blood hound.

I see it as either the mental illness was passed on to him, and perhaps he subconsciously retained the teachings of the cult, and they manifested themselves later in his life.

Or

Wilfred really was a god, and in like most religions, there's a prophet to tell of his coming.

Girl is fine as frick. I always felt guilty about the thoughts I was constantly having when she was on screen, considering I watched every episode by my wife's side.

Well, he said himself that he was, so it seems to fit the narrative pretty closely.

I didn't take it that Wilfred was a god. I took it as Ryan was just crazy. All the things about Wilfred being a god were suppressed memories. Kind of like the suppressed memory of his uncle. He is able to access those memories through Wilfred. Ryan got a double dose of crazy. From his mom and biological father.

ETA: they even showed the real dog there while Ryan was imagining the god version.

Loved the throwback to the first episode, and the anger with which he said "so long, girl next door".

Ryan ripping Jenna a new one (after he ripped her a new one ) in the previous episode was gold. She had shown her true colors over the past season.

Tobin Bell as his real dad was pretty awesome, but I felt like it took a little bit away from Ryan and Henry's relationship. However, Charles' comments about Henry showed that he was a good man and that he truly cared about Ryan.

The entire conversation with Charles was great.
Ryan: "You don't seem crazy."
Charles: "Son, I'm all kinds of nuts. The only thing that keeps me from bouncing off padded walls is I've discoved the one true god. And, I take a half-dozen pharmaceuticals."

Going through the photo album and putting the pieces together was great. I'm not sure, but I think But I think Bill the Native American was the guide when Ryan took the peyote. Charles telling Ryan that Richard (Wilfred) was a preachy prick who was always telling other people how to live their lives.

I wish that Ryan had gone after Richard/Wilfred, but that would have warranted another episode.

The scenes showing Ryan smoking weed with and laughing at things that the real Wilfred didn't say were really sad (except for Ryan laughing and flipping off the dog, that was hilarious) and showed just how ill Ryan is. Showing Ryan baptising himself and shocking himself with the dog collar made me realize that he was really the one with the liqour and the lube in his backpack at the school, he killed Jellybeans, and he smothered the old woman at the old folks home.

The whole Kristen-abortion clinic bit was a little much, but hey, even though Ryan is cray cray Kristen is still a cold cold bitch.

Ryan wanting Wilfred to come back made me happy, mostly because I predicted that he would miss Wilfred too much in the end to truly let him go.

Most of all, I liked how open-ended the episode was. Is Ryan dead? Or is he just crazy? My interpretation is that he is just mentally ill. Maybe he gets help, maybe he just ends up hanging out with his subconcious all the time in his "basement". I consider it a happy ending, he got all the answers he was looking for.

Sad picture time
