Finally watched "The Wire" - Questions, Observations, & Spoilers

First off, I really enjoyed season 5. All I read on here (and everywhere else) is how season 5 is the consensus worst season. I disagree, I really enjoyed it, and I liked the newspaper angle....much more than the season 2 stevedore subplot.
I'd probably rank the seasons 3, 4, 5, 1, 2
Question about the series finale: the attorney (Levy) thanked Herc and invited him over for supper after getting Marlo off. Did Levy know Herc snuck in his office, stole Marlo's cell #, and leaked it to tBPD?
Also, kinda random, but I didn't even make the connection of Cheese (Method Man) being Randy's Dad until the final episode.
Hated how the 4 kids' stories ended. Namond was the shittiest one & the worst actor, and he gets the happy ending.
I could go on for days about this show (absolutely loved it), but I'll just keep it at that since I know I'm a decade late and this topic has been discussed ad nauseum.

You've never watched any other show in its entirety before?
I have The Wire as my GOAT, but I've seen lots of other shows though. Best thing about The Wire IMO is that it's the GOAT, but it's hard to even explain why it is...it just sort of is. Great, great show and I plan on rewatching in a year or two.

It doesn't come into play or have any relevance, but they both have the same last name (Wagstaff.) I've seen a David Simon interview somewhere where he confirmed him as the dad. It was just a small unexplored character detail, kind of like Rawls in the gay bar.

Season 2 will climb in your rankings every time you watch it. It started off as my least favorite season and after rewatching it all a couplefew times, it's now my 2nd or 3rd favorite. I rank em 3-2-4-1-5.

It also gets mentioned in season 2 I noticed on a recent re watch.
And to the OP, my problem with season 5 is the serial killer angle. I height they could've found another way to force the mayor to paying the cops, like maybe that pissed off cop that attacked that bystander gets shot or something

The scene where Greggs and McNulty go to the FBI to get a profile on the killer and they end up describing McNulty is hilarious.

I felt this way the first time I watched season 4 but I felt much differently the second time around. Namond survives and gets out of the game because of two reasons. One, just the luck of meeting Bunny. Two, because he isn't "hard" meaning he doesn't have it in him to physically assault and kill people as required in the game. The latter characteristic is a virtue. Although I wanted all four of them to get out, I think you are being too hard on Namond and should just take the little bit of positive outcomes that the show provides.

This is an absolutely horrible list. The only one I would give you is Cheryl. Rawls is one of the best characters on the show. He is a total a-hole but he is a great character.
