A couple of threads have gotten me to thinking - there are awful media personalities out there. I pay attention mostly to conservatives because that's the way I lean. That being said, there are conservative personalities that I just won't listen to because I don't think they are very reasonable / use bullshite to stir up contraversy / distort facts. What I want to know is - on your side, who should we pay attention to?

On the conservative side, I will not listen to the following:
Rush Limbaugh - blowhard, distorts facts
Sean Hannity - logic is missing sometimes
Bill O'Reilly - softball interview to Obama, logic is missing, facts often missing

I do pay attention to the following because they have logical well thought out discussions and appear to try to be honest with facts.
Megyn Kelly
Shephard Smith
Mike Huckabee
Tucker Carlson
Brit Hume
Greta Van Sustern
Dana Loesch

When I think about the liberal set on MSNBC, I find the following to lack logic and grossly distort information / outright lie:
Chris Matthews
Ed Schultz
Melissa Harris-Perry
Chris Hayes
Al Sharpton
Rachel Maddow

Surely you roll your eyes when someone mentions one of these commentators and say to yourself "nobody listens to that guy, pay attention to XYZ for someone with good viewpoints". So then, let's have at it. Who should we watch / listen to for a well thought out argument?

I hear over and over again that the right distorts facts as much as the left. Having worked in Media for a long time I just don't believe this is the case. But I would like to understand who has well thought out arguments on your side......

Krauthammer has his own show? I see him on all the time, but I didn't think he actually hosted anything where one can tune in.

You didn't specify having their own show. I assume you just meant media commentators in the MSM.

i love this term. As if the viewers/circulation/listenership of Fox/WSJ/Rush isn't big enough to be considered "mainstream"

Even the liberals on this board can't come up with a response.

Stop watching television and listening to radio.

If you have to watch television or listen to radio avoid all pundits like the plague. No exceptions. Simply follow the news itself and exercise critical thinking.

Maddow does not belong on the crazy list. I would take her off and add Touré. And I don't agree with you on Huckabee.

it's a completely absurd OP in which you openly admit that you already believe that the vast majority of conservative commentators are "fair" while every single liberal commentator you've ever heard is essentially full of shite.

Based on that, there's nothing I can do for you because no matter what or who i say, you already have your mind made up about them. So why should I bother taking your post seriously?

Also, most of your "fair" conservatives are just as full of shite as the Rush and Hannity types, they just tend to be a little less bombastic about ti and try to deceive people by pretending to be "fair"

well they do for one, a big part of the modis operandi for all 3 (WSJ's editorial page) is to demonize the liberal "MSM" and prop themselves up as the "independent" media in america, unencumbered by bias. It's a complete joke.

Now you are going just as far over the top as he is. No one is as full of shite as Rush and Sean Hannity. Hell they can't even remember what they are supposed to be pissed off about half the time. As soon as todays hot topic cant get the rating they drop it like a steaming hot turd. Is the brave marine free yet? Soon as he did not garner the rating they forgot about him, 5 min. later everyone else did as well. And so goes the media merry go round.

You're giving me too much credit DS. MSNBC was on in the gym I worked out at for 14 years in NYC, everybody on that list at one point or another literally outright lied on multiple occasions to fit their narritive. I don't watch it anymore, so I don't know.

That being said, surely there is someone out there that you watch or listen that can explain their viewpoints in a logical, factual, and statistically valid way that makes you as passionate about your beliefs that you are.

NBC / MSNBC literally edited out important parts of a fricking 911 call to try to stoke a race war.

I have my mind made up about those on that list because I know they are full of shite. Surely there's a legit source that you use?

Just proves that you don't watch enough of it. I wouldn't necessarily call them "fair and balanced", but I will say that they use logical explanations and don't intentionally lie on-air.

You saying that Greta Van Sustern is the same level as Hannity? Or are you saying she's the same level as Al Sharpton? Which is it?

Actually, I don't give a frick about your opinon on Greta. Just tell me who you watch or listen to that would get one to think of an alternative viewpoint.

But you can't. All you can think of is across partisan lines and be defensive.

Duplicitous partisanship promoted over logic equates to stupidity. In that regard, Maddow is Sean Hannity. In similar terms, there is virtually no difference between Touré-Maddow-Limbaugh.
