If this thread is better for the M/TV Board then please move.
I was reminded of "That Thing You Do." the other day and must say its a pretty good tune.
What are some of your favorite songs made for movies?

I like that tune too.
Good call. Can't think of any others though.

The entire Dewey Cox soundtrack is the best CD made for a movie ever.
These are the movie versions, the soundtrack is actually the full songs. It really is phenomenal:
A life without you
Let me hold you little man
Let's Duet
Walk Hard
Beautiful ride
Royal Jelly
My favorite:
Guilty as charged

hmmmm, tough thread.
where do you draw the distinction between a 'song' made for a movie and a soundtrack?
vocals? vangelis had 'chariots of fire' that recieved airplay after the movie.
but then there's 'streets of fire' where 3 or 4 songs sung by the band ended up as radio hits. "tonight is what it means to be young", "i can dream about you" and most people have probably forgotten the fixx "deeper and deeper" off that.

yeah.. does the title of the song have to match the movie title?
I mean "eye of the tiger" made for Rocky III
ETA: or is this for songs that were actually played by a band in the movie?

How about Simon and Garfunkle sounds of silence and Mrs. Robinson?

The theme from "Local Hero" by Mark Knopfler has always been one of my favorites. Great movie too.

Yea it's kind of tough I guess. The thread was meant for songs performed in the movie or I'll even include TV shows to make it easier.
