Read a great article just now about haw the Texans released Andre Brown earlier today and that leaves Alfred Blue and Jonathan Grimes to battle for Arian Fosters "handcuff".

Here is a quote from the article:

quote:

Alfred Blue is a straight ahead, downhill runner with some strength, but he he lacks great speed and quickness. Like Mike Anderson and Reuben Droughns, he can be productive in a one-cut, downhill scheme.

quote:

But the player to watch, at least for right now, is Grimes. "Grimes" experience overall probably has him a little ahead of Alfred," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said. "But Alfred's doing a good job for a guy that just got here."

Always great to see former Tigers excel!

We signed Ronnie Brown today as well. Minus the dropped passes, he looked pretty good in our first preseason game.

My man blue could not stay healthy. It sounds like he's going to be making a payday. Good for him. He's always been a hard worker and great teammate.

If not for the injury in 2012, I think he could have been drafted for 2013.

I think a lot of why he fell back last year, had to do with the mental aspect. Not sure of yourself after the injury, afraid of not going all out.

At least I get to see him play this year. Hopefully as a good backup.

"Doing good for a guy who just got here" is a loooong way from excelling. Sounds like he might get cut tbh. You guys are fricking desperate.

The way I'm reading into it, he has made the team. Will be third string with the possibility to back up Arian Foster. The thing with backing up Foster is that as long as Arian is healthy, he doesn't come off of the field. So you will get your work in mop up time if they are blowing out or getting blown out. Other than that a few carries here and there to spell him will be all you will get. Foster does third down and short yardage work. Regardless, pretty awesome that Blue has established himself one week into the preseason. RBU.

+1

He had some serious balance issues last year.
Hope he nails it w/the Texans, though.
Geaux, Bluuuu.

Actually, everything out of Texans camp is about how good he has been.

Why exactly are you upset about good news about Blue?

if Bleu is the backup, he will most likely be seeing plenty of time.

Blue also contributes on special teams which is why he was drafted in the first place. He will most likely make the squad because he can be a solid back up, no matter where at on the depth chart, and can cover on special teams well.
