This is probably a dumb question. I currently have roth set up for me.

I'm also married. We file jointly.

Question: is it dumb for me to stay as my single 5500 limit? Or should I alter my roth to include my wife to up my contributions?

Roths are individual accounts. You can set one up in your wife's name and contribute up to the 5500 max into her account. This is in addition to your Roth which you can max at 5500.
