Intrusive Ads on Preseason Broadcasts Raise Eyebrows - PFT

Slap Ya Mama Redzone came to mind
quote:
The ugliest part of Week One of the preseason was the use on some broadcasts of intrusive ads that superimposed the names and logos of businesses on the field, using the same technology that broadcasters have long used to display the first down line. The results were hideous, leading Keith Olbermann to open his show with a skit in which he pretended to be arriving from the future to warn football fans about how annoying advertising could be.

The Toyota RedZone was horrible.

People actually watch Olberman?

The Slap Ya Mama crap was pretty distracting but I guess it helped getting it on TV for free. Give and take.
I'd prefer to see a Victoria Secret red zone that looks something like this:

It popped up once each time they got to the redzone. Get over it.

I agree that it's annoying and tacky. Just something we're going to have to live with, though.

KO appeals to the sophisticated sports fan. And those who can separate sports from politics.

That gif made me laugh...
I don't mind in-game advertising at all. In fact, and EB can pick up what I'm putting down here, but I kind of like it and it's akin to what some companies are doing inside video games. Sometimes you'll see Dodge billboards or certain soft drink logos in multiplayer maps. It's even kind of immersive.
I don't mind it being subtly put into a TV broadcast. Instead of the red zone being a giant hot red square blob, outline the red zone in red between the 20, goalline and sidelines.
What I'm trying to say is a more savvy approach would to streamline the adverts and make them less obtrusive to the viewer. I don't mind a Toyota logo or a Slap Ya Mamma can, just use some tact for Breesus' sake.

Only thing on ESPN I will watch outside of a sporting event.

I'd be willing to accept the on-field ads - if it meant fewer commercials.
Sadly, it seemed like it was in addition to.
Oh well, one step closer to Idiocracy.
