The Huskies announced Thursday that in conjunction with DeKalb's annual Corn Fest -- this year, held the same weekend as NIU's season opener against FCS Presbyterian -- they would wear special corn-themed jerseys to be auctioned off for charity after the game.

In addition to recognizing the region's agricultural roots, the special Corn Fest jerseys worn by the Huskies during the season opener will be auctioned online to benefit three worthy local causes. Proceeds from the auction will be split among the Voluntary Action Center of DeKalb, Boy Scout Troop 33, and the Canaday Family, a local family whose eighth-grade son, Christopher, was born with pulmonary atresia and has had 34 surgeries during his young life. Meanwhile, Christopher's father, Mark, an NIU employee, is battling esophageal cancer.

Nice cause, hope they make a lot of money.

that looks like some shite adidas would do, but cheers to them for raising some cash for charity.

Cause Marketing was gone haywire though.

Just hope they don't get creamed by a smaller school in those corn jerseys.

Well DeKalb is the hometown of Cindy Crawford. So let's hope they do well.

The jerseys are meh, but I'm sure the kids enjoying mixing it up a little bit.

Looking forward to seeing NIU continue to progress. They have been a very good program over the past few seasons, averaging over 11 wins/season. They've built a pretty solid pipeline into Wisconsin, often taking some of the kids Wisconsin had offered preferred walk-ons to.

The jerseys look 20x better than one would expect corn-themed jerseys to look.
