Whats going on with Vic Butler?

read an article on the 30th where he and the coaches were talking about the upcoming year and his role on the team. Then looks like he's been in a boot since the 3rd of August? Now i keep seeing on here where you guys think he'll get cut. Whats the deal?

you can't make the team if you can't get on the field.
Everybody hopes he makes the team. He is very talented and we really need more rush LBs.

Apparently Dawson has been having a nice camp. Combine that with Haralson, Fortt moving to OLB, and Powell, Butler may be on the outside when it comes time to cut down to 53.

Wonder if this goes on for a few more weeks they put him on PUP to start the year.

He would have to sit out the first 6 weeks.
But it would give us another 21 days when he starts practicing to decide to add him to the 53. Probably what we will do if he isn't ready.

Don't forget Humber. I think he starts this year > 50% of the snaps. Closest thing we have to a "do it all" LB, could very easily play OLB or ILB. I will also add, last game he was the only LB on the field that consistently knew where to be and how to play.

I was including mostly OLBs, but I do expect Humber to play a large role this year as well. I actually think he should start alongside Lofton. Hawthorne and Lofton are too similar to be playing along side each other, and Humber looks to be the better compliment to Lofton.

Well from what I can see about Humber he's a bit smaller than Lofton and Hawthorne. I think he brings more to the table than either of those two guys at ILB until you get to the redzone or 3rd and shorts, where you need the bigger guys to stuff the run and push the pile.

They're not cutting him. If anything, if he's doesn't make it back for preseason, they'll just PUP him.

This is the last year of his 2 year contract. Would hate if we don't get at least one decent year out of him.
