Seems we are the second most corrupt state after 6 years of the Jindal ethics standard.

Damn, even Mississippi is the most corrupt. Thank god for that state. Keeps us from being dead last or first in this case.

It would be unrealistic to think someone can unravel Louisiana's corruption in 8 years. The guy has helped make this state one of the hottest to be in right now. Take the win and move on.

It's FTR Jindal was the perfect governor that was strong enough to beat the shite out of the parish leaders in the Florida and acadiana regions in line and behind a loop for BR, more bridges on the Mississippi, and improving and updating traffic infrastructure. This state is corrupt so why not use that to an advantage to make good things happen.

It's going to take a strong and powerful governor to make a BR loop happen.

"People think corruption doesn't happen here," said Chicago lawyer Sergio Acosta, who used to work in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois. He's a member of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel's Ethics Reforms Task Force, which aims to codify appropriate behavior for city employees. "That's the real value of this report."

The article lists states that have a very high percentage of black democrat politicians who have been arrested. But those states are red states. Therefore, the Republicans get blamed for the acts of people like Ray Nagin.

Great article by KW

quote:

frequently was reminded of the intensity of the violent crime plaguing its cities — not only in murder-happy Chicago (“Gangsterville”) but also in the bedeviled city of East St. Louis, where the incidence of criminal violence is five times Chicago’s rate. Illinois is of course a wildly corrupt state — its prisons function as pension homes for its politicians — and Governor Pat Quinn, either through sheer fecklessness or with malice aforethought, allowed his signature antiviolence program to be converted into a political slush fund, currently being investigated by federal criminal authorities. Which is to say, Governor Quinn’s main anticrime measure is being investigated as a criminal enterprise.

The only thing Jindal's so called ethics reforms have done is to have given the governor tools to punish his enemies. Watch as he uses them against John White. As the article indicates it has done little to squash corruption--ie Edmondson retirement Jindal and his cronies in the Senate made into law.

I posted about this not long ago. I was once subjected to those stupid ethics laws and resigned my volunteer position because I did not want to be subjected to them. The governor can use those against you until you are bankrupt defending yourself before you ever get to a court. He doesn't even have to document charges against you. He can simply make allegations and the burden of proof you are innocent is on you. His hand picked ethics judge can rule however he wants.

You boys smoke the Jindal dope. He was touring the US-Mexican border yesterday to boost his presidential campaign. How many Louisiana tax dollars did that cost us?

Mississippi is a fricking blessing to all Southern states.

The number of times someone in LA, Arky, Bama, Tenn, and Kentucky say "but at least we're not MS" is probably unfathomable.

Definitely takes a Governor of the upmost ethical principles to endorse John Alario for Senate President.
