I'm wanting to buy a new rifle and am torn on which one to get. One if them is a winchester model 70 extreme weather in .264 win mag. The other is a stainless fluted Remington model 700 in .257 weatherby mag, and the last one is a savage stainless fluted in 6.5x284, not sure of model. I'm open to other calibers and guns but wanting something fast and flat.

Scratch the 6.5x284 I'll build a custom rifle if I go that caliber. Not enough options on guns in that caliber and the savage has a heavy barrell.

Why not the weatherby?

Any caliber that weatherby came up with is stupid. Akin to the .40 IMO.

Ummmmmm. You so dumb. Don't speak on rifle threads until you can shoot a group under 2 inches at 100 yards

I like the options! I have a tikka and a sako and they are both great. The .270wsm is a great caliber.

I really like the winchester but have read about accuracy issues. I do like the idea of a .264 mag though.

Why no Tikka?

I have one of the new Winchester Model 70 Featherweights that was built in the FN plant in South Carolina. Very nice rifle--action is smooth and the trigger breaks super clean. Check it out.

I am the worst rifle shot that I know. There is no debating that.

I bought my savage model 110.270 for $200. Best shooting rifle I own, God awful ugly but shoots lights out.

Mine does too but I was young and wanted too much rifle an bought a 7mm mag for like 200 yards max. Haven't even shot it in a few years.

Scratch my vote!
Neither the 264 Win Mag nor 257 Weatherby do anything for me, but if forced to choose between the two, I'd go w/ the 257 Weatherby. What's the new rifle going to be used for?

Hunting. Probably to just hold my deer watching utensil

Why don't those calibers do anything for you? I want a gun I can point and shoot out to 300 yards.

I have a tikka in .308 so I'm not ruling it out but don't have a model 70 yet. I prefer stainless over blued also that's why I'm looking at the extreme weather. I do know that tikka makes a couple different stainless options.

Edit: the stainless fluted looks good . Maybe 7mm, 25/06 or 260.
