I am making a trip home to West Monroe in few weeks and was going to drive over to Bossier City for a meal at Panchos, but after a quick google, I see that they closed a few months ago! I am 42 and it was there for 46 years...is it Obamanomics or did the food just get that bad? I last went there in 2009 and it was very good. I remember going there as a little boy excited and having to wait in a line that went out the door and I could not see over the wall until you made to turn to get the trays. Very depressed about this.

I remember driving to work in texas as a fairly young guy and stopping there to eat. then having to make very fast emergency stops at that big truck stop, close to the texas line. good memories..

My mother used to take me there a kid and I loved it. Always loved the flag at the table.

I feel like we went there for every Father's Day when I was growing up. Good memories. No idea it had closed down.

The one in Metairie took the flag from a friend and me.

We never went back.

only after they had politely asked a couple of times, the two 3o year old men to quit playing with the flag.

Nothing says Happy Father's Day like making dad fix the plumbing on his one day off a year.

Wow, that brings me back. I was at Centenary on scholarship back in the late 60s. I had no money other than the savings from working in radio while in HS. I used that at a rate of 10 dollars a week.

One dollar and 49 cents was saved for Sunday dinner at Pancho's since the college cafeteria was closed for lunch and dinner (to coerce students to attend church services on campus).

I got rice, beans, red chili stew over the rice, 2 tamales and 2 enchiladas. Every Sunday evening for 4 years. Those were the days.

Scratch

What are you going to do for MEXICAN?
No Pancho's in Bossier and Ernesto's in Monroe
closed 2 years ago.

I guess we can eat Iron Cactus in Calhoun and
have them prepare everything Ernesto's style.

Their flag concept to call a waitress was genius. The old Brocato's had a button at the table that lit a light in the back to summon a waitress.

That should be used in all restaurants, even fine dining. You get a waiter when you need one, and you don't have one interrupting when not needed.

I agree. It takes the guess work out of it. Sometimes the guest really doesn't do a good job of getting a server's attention.

Honestly, I'm surprised to hear there's a Pancho's anywhere.

When I was a kid, and we'd go to the annual Redbone Coonhound Convention every January in Memphis, the highlight of the trip was a dinner at Panchos. No buffet. Awesome Messican for a little redneck from Leake County.

I miss Brocato's. Their gravy was the closest thing to my grandfather's sauce. Their salad bar was awesome, too.
