Tyron Johnson and Texas Tech

How legit is Tyron Johnson's interest in Texas Tech? I know 247 has Texas Tech as his favorite, but is there still a chance that he commits to them, or will he be in purple and gold in the end?

After what happened with Speedy last year, if a kid says someone is his favorite, then I'm not questioning him.

Let's just hope he doesn't mislead our staff. Any timeline for his decision?

I don't think so. His interest in Texas Tech is legit.

I guess it would depend on Texas Tech and LSU's seasons right now. But tbh, if he's not at LSU, at least he won't be in the SEC..

Will commit at the all american game

The biggest thing working against us the fact our Top 4 receivers this year are sophomores and freshmen...so he knows regardless of how good he is, he cant come in and start as a freshman at LSU, while he might be the #1 target as a freshman at a pass happy team like TTU.
That being said, our success of sending WRs to the NFL has him very intrigued. Just wait your turn Tyron, just like Landry had to, and you'll make it big time

He's visited lsu a lot lately. We've moved up to at least tied with tech if not ahead of them. I figure we'll be firmly in the lead after he visit Lubbock.

Lubbock, Texas, therefore not worried.

His favorite player is Michael Crabtree and he likes their offense. Doesn't he also like Oklahoma State?

IMO, if someone is considering a school like Texas Tech which is clearly not on the competitive level that LSU is, I'd say the type of season each team has is irrelevant.
He may be a kid that is looking for statistics. He'll get them in that offense.

I cannot tell you how "serious" he may be about Lubbock, home of Texas Tech, but I do know he has consistently mentioned that school.
I am thinking there is an "unseen intangible," and beyond that it would be a mystery.
I think they may have a Holgersen Disciple running some facet of their offense, and the pass-happy-O's will definitely give a player many opportunities, AND OPPORTUNITIES TO GET HIT MIGHTILY....they are predictably pass-happy.

Lubbock is the greatest. Oh, and at TT they believe in throwing a ball. Unlike run first MiLSU.

Texas Tech has a very good quarterback currently committed (Stidham) and like another poster said his favorite player is Michael Crabtree. Combine that with immediate playing time at Tech I would definitely say they are a "threat"

If he wants to spend the prime of his life in Lubbock playing under the direction of Ryan Gossling, then godspeed to the young man.

His favorite player is a mediocre receiver?

I live in dallas, and one of my high school teachers was asking on the last day where we were all going to college last year, well someone said texas tech and her response was, "at least you don't have to worry about traffic"
