Every once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

“There's no way to measure his greatness or magnitude as a person or as a player. I don't think any eulogizing will do him justice. He was that great, much more than a superb musician, with an uncanny ear and dexterity. He's the very spirit personified of whatever is Muddy River country at its core and screams up into the spheres. He really had no equal. To me he wasn't only a musician and friend, he was more like a big brother who taught and showed me more than he'll ever know. There's a lot of spaces and advances between The Carter Family, Buddy Holly and, say, Ornette Coleman—a lot of universes, but he filled them all without being a member of any school. His playing was moody, awesome, sophisticated, hypnotic and subtle. There's no way to convey the loss. It just digs down really deep.” - Bob Dylan

That was beautiful, it was the quitest ive heard a crowd leaving a show, everyone was stunned.

I had a rough summer of 95, one of my best friends died in july, jerry in august and then shannon hoon in october.

it's one of those "never forget where you were" moments for me.

We had just seen them in DC, Hornsby sat in both nights. Bob Dylan opened. My buddy from DC called and said, "Jerry is dead." I thought it was some BS rumor. He said, "nah man. it's all over MTV." that's when I knew.

I started my car and the Maxell XL II in my tape player started playing Standing on the Moon. I cried.

Me and a buddy drove up to RFK for those two shows. Last song Jerry sang to me was Brokedown. That was when Dylan had Larry Cambell, Bon still played guitar. His band was great. The "Rain" the Dead did was excellent. There was a strange vibe all through the 95 run. Took a while to adjust without question once he passed.
